Visit Savannah – A Style Guide with Charisse Styles

TRAVEL+LEISURE BEST CITIES

By now, you know that a little town along the coast of Georgia is a pretty and popular destination. That place would be my hometown, Savannah and we’ve been named, consistently as one of the best places to visit in the United States. I can prove it, here are the receipts! Lots of people are looking for shopping options and I’m going to let you in on some local spots for different occasions, events and for a fun, bold Southern vibe.

Uniquely Southern

Carlisle of York may have some of the funkiest shoes in town, seriously! From unique shapes and silhouettes to a variety of textiles and textures in one shoe, Carlisle is your place. BUT, I have good news, they also have very trend worthy and sustainable finds for everyday wear too. Mindy, the store owner with a heart of gold does an excellent job meshing together the tastes of Iris Apfel and Anna Wintour (you know, if either of them were Southern) in one store. Thank you Carlisle of York for giving us cool Sex and the City vibes – bold and fierce and the perfect hostess dress.

Fashion, Forward

The Edition Shop may be the new kid on the block, but shop owner Meredith Barfield knows a thing or two about being luxe.

The entrepreneur mom to be introduced Savannah to a missing style aesthetic: a modern, clean and European fashion forward option. Edition has lots of staples and classic styles with a few ruffles and prints that makes it easy to shop here without overthinking. Yes, as a bright and spirited stylist and shopper I can shop there too, but Edition Shop is great for the minimalist and those who appreciate a good jean… and her jeans are goooood, she carries Frame, Agolde and a few more.

Edition also carries handmade jewelry like these tiered gold earrings by Tatiana Cabral Smith, a local self taught artist. Did I mention all the designs are lightweight…and that a portion of all her proceeds go to charity? Tatiana has lightweight gold, silver and brass in earrings and made to order engraved cuffs. They make excellent gifts!

Colorful and Trendy

If you’re subscribed to my site, you know my personal style is bright and bold, so naturally, i’m going to gravitate towards Edgewater Drive. One of the newer stores on the block, Edgewater has clothing for the woman looking to add some pizazz to her look. They carry tons of brands that are fitting for every festival, but with a huge selection of separates, can work for the Southern corporate woman, too! It’s all about finding a staple and adding some color.

Date Nights to Wedding Days

Spring and Summer in Savannah brings the best festivals, concerts and outings. Need something for date night? Wedding (tons of those)? Night on the rooftop listening to the orchestra? You don’t have to order anything online for any occasion in Savannah because Copper Penny and Harper have what you need. Dresses and jeans, shoes, accessories and great bags are at both of these shops. How do I know? I take all of clients to either of these stores for their special nights out, like these two.

Vacation, maybe beach vibes. Both.

Another personal favorite shop of mine in Savannah is RMC Boutique, aptly named after entrepreneur and veteran Rosa M. Carpenter. RMC has boho and beach vibes all day (really, just my kind of day) with an entire accessory section devoted to Kendra Scott, an embroidery station and other stations where you can curate your own jewelry…think Pandora, without Pandora. RMC also has formal gowns, but I find the winning combination to be rompers and two piece sets perfect for vacations or beach days…or a Caribbean evening out when I wore this two piece set.

Accessory Lookout

Looking for unique accessories that you can wear to wear or a formal function? 13 Secrets in tucked away on Oglethorpe Street in a small store front studio with a private shopping feel. With affordable gold hoops to custom diamond rings, 13 Secrets has something for the luxe lady with a sassy vibe.

If you’re looking for some silver…and artisan, Kristen Baird is your designer. Did I mention Oprah (yes, that one) owns one of her signature cuffs in her jewelry collection? Kristen’s jewelry is like candy… yummy semi precious stones. Don’t worry, she has diamonds too if you’re looking to have a custom set made for your special day.

Wedding Know it All?

Maybe you don’t want to deal with a ton of vendors. That’s why Ivory and Beau does it all. The wedding dress boutique is home to the vibrant and social savvy team lead by the fearless dancing machine, Nicole. They handle everything from the dress (with no one dress over $3,000), invitations and flowers, just like these beauties. Yep, Ivory and Beau can plan your entire wedding and have flowers ready for Mother’s Day. That’s a bet.

Don’t Forget the Boys

Business suits, personalized button downs and tuxedos, J. Parker is the place men frequent for work and special occasions. For everyday wear, beach day or a night out after the office, Joseph’s Clothiers may be more your speed. Both shops are locally owned and carry something in everyone’s budget. Check out these styled shoots for Savannah magazine featuring the men’s shops.

Looking for hats like the one above? Try Goorin Brothers. They have a great selection for men and women for varying occasions, styles and decades.

Next time you’re out shopping, make sure you stop by one of these stores. Make sure you tell them I sent ya!
