Nicole Dillon

Nicole Dillon was Teacher of the Year at Oglethorpe Charter School. Nicole is definitely the “Do-It-All” woman. She has an enormous heart and oozes a joyous personality.  I captured her personality for the night in a bold Calvin Klein dress from Roz and Ali and all of her gifted accessories from Dillards.

Nicole is a gem, so bright gemstone colors are beautiful against her chocolate skin. This was a perfect look for an evening of recognition, but can be worn on a date night, church or any of her speaking engagements!

Casual V-Day Style

Valentines Day falls on a weekday this year.

I have a record of being single on the day itself, so I’m accustomed to dressing for and taking myself out (even though I do during the year anyways…Spa day is DESPERATELY calling my name).

You can still dress flirty and appropriate for work or class. Check out this super affordable look I achieved mainly shopping on clearance racks.

Spread LOVE daily <3

Happy New Year!  I haven’t posted since before Christmas…lots of family time, rest and thankfulness.  Of course, i’ve been busy thrifting :).

I’ve been trying to get into Mad Men…and Joan Harris (Christina Hendricks character) is probably my favorite…I love her style. This look reminds me of portraying…being a high powered woman. Especially in this Giorgio Armani pencil skirt.

It’s chilly outside, so there are a few layers with the leather coat and scarf, all thrifted. This look is perfect for the office, conference, doctors, lawyers…anyone. It’s tailored, chic and gives off expensive vibes.

Skirt, Giorgia Armani $10 (Similar styles retail for $475) | Top, J. Crew $3.75 | Leather Coat, $20

All items, except heels are thrifted/consigned.

Emerald Ball, Dr. Keenya Mosley

It’s the holiday season and there are plenty of work gatherings, balls and ugly Christmas sweater parties to attend.  When Keenya called for a few of those events, she knew that she wanted to wear Emerald to the emerald ball.  However, I live in a small market and didn’t have a lot of time to do a thorough search for an evening gown. Living in a small city, it’s common that someone could be wearing the same dress as you.

Oversized Blazer + Best Jeans

Blazer, white blouse, blue jeans.  Classics. Staples. Effortless.  It’s my go to on Fridays (heeeeeyyyyy) and weekends.  I added a pop of color on my eyes with blue shadow and an orange necklace.

Every article and item was thrifted!!! Even the $298 J Brand Jeans I snagged at a consignment shop.

I might go on a tangent about how much i’m going to miss warm weather with Fall and Wintter approaching…even thought it’s still in the 80’s in good ‘ol Savannah, Georgia.  But what I do love…is burgundy…marroon…deep plums.  Probably because their variations of red and purple, two of my favorite colors.  Not to mention, it’s always fall appropriate, but is a very trendy color…nails, hair, coats, shoes, etc.

I’ve been waiting to wear this dress because I love the bow, BUT LET ME TELL YOU….the arms are totally wonky.  I needed to pull it over my big hair, have my mom pull the dress down WHILE my dad was pulling my arm up. Yea, a mess. But it was worth it lol.  I paired this rich color dress with some rich boots…my Manolo Blahniks…that were unworn. And free. Remember?

Seen on Me:

Burgundy Dress, $20 Limited | Boots, Manolo Blahnik | Chained Purse, $4 Goodwill | Earrings, $3 Goodwill

One of the trends this fall are colors that tend to be seen in other seasons– blush, florals and oranges.  I love orange and the different variations…definately my tones (pulls out the gold in my skin).  And as you know, i’m a huge fan of jumpsuits and onesie fits, so of course when I see them in stores, I gravitate towards them.  There were several different colors and I tried on the royal blue, but I have a ton of blue and was missing a super bright piece in my wardrobe. Aaaand, it was on clearance.

Country Club Chic: Affordable + Modernized

I definitely don’t have an elite budget or lifestyle, especially one that affords the luxury of a Country or Golf Club membership.  However, I do have the budget to affordably look the part…with a punch of color and prints. And some kinky hair 🙂

It’s not Tommy, Ralph or Lilly, yet I assure you, it did’t cost anything close to those MSRP’s.  Check out how I put my twist on Country Club//Ivy League prep below with soft colors and stripes.  This can DEFINITELY be worn to many events or occasions, even perfect for office wear!
