Oversized Blazer + Best Jeans

Blazer, white blouse, blue jeans.  Classics. Staples. Effortless.  It’s my go to on Fridays (heeeeeyyyyy) and weekends.  I added a pop of color on my eyes with blue shadow and an orange necklace.

Every article and item was thrifted!!! Even the $298 J Brand Jeans I snagged at a consignment shop.

I might go on a tangent about how much i’m going to miss warm weather with Fall and Wintter approaching…even thought it’s still in the 80’s in good ‘ol Savannah, Georgia.  But what I do love…is burgundy…marroon…deep plums.  Probably because their variations of red and purple, two of my favorite colors.  Not to mention, it’s always fall appropriate, but is a very trendy color…nails, hair, coats, shoes, etc.

I’ve been waiting to wear this dress because I love the bow, BUT LET ME TELL YOU….the arms are totally wonky.  I needed to pull it over my big hair, have my mom pull the dress down WHILE my dad was pulling my arm up. Yea, a mess. But it was worth it lol.  I paired this rich color dress with some rich boots…my Manolo Blahniks…that were unworn. And free. Remember?

I love scarves….as in wearing them on my head.  Whenever I am having a lazy hair day….which is most days (hence twists/protective styles), I find it super easy to throw a scarf on my head for a quick style that’s comfortable and….quick 🙂

Scarves make good head wraps, especially  in the summer to get hair out of your face and off your neck.  They’re good for the fall because they’re even more versatile.  When it is a wrap day, I, i’m usually quite casual; shirt dress, or in this case jeans and a button down.  You can easily dress up your jeans with heels, but to honor the season, I opted for some cool suede boots.

Fall tip: to offset the coral shirt, I pulled the blues from the wrap into the accessories and wore a dark lip.’

Classic White + Black Wide Legs

I have a few favorite designers and brands (that I mostly like looking at in magazines) that are not ready to wear…most definitely not affordable 🙄.  One of those designers is Carolina Herrara.  I loved her style and designs since I was a teenager (what black teenage girl from south Georgia likes Carolina Herrara 👈🏾😂).  If I could describe my personal style and aethestic by designer, it’d be her.  She and her designs are sheer class and exuberant of wealth (it’s munnayyy honey).  She uses florals, silks, colors, womanly silhouettes amongst others.

She’s known for her staple white tops, a-line skirts or staple trousers. When deciding what to wear for my styling class with Celebrity stylist, Tierra Blount, I knew I wanted something simple, classic, chic, comfortable (long day and long drive) and stylish.  I immediately knew I wanted to wear my wide leg trousers and a white top. *Sidebar: I’ve been on a white top kick and found several styles….all from Goodwill over the summer, I’m obsessed. I loved this look because it felt so Carolina.

If I had a camel wool coat, silk scarf and some super expensive brand…let’s say Chanel glasses…this could’ve easily gone Miranda Priestly and I would not have been mad! 🙂

Sometimes for events…simplicity is best.  I may make this my uniform.  For a pop of color, I opted for the classic red, white and black look.  You could definitely apply a red lip with this and be all the talk (I didn’t want to keep reapplying all day). The good thing about simple looks…simple accessories.  This is perfect for your work, event, brunch, church…anywhere!!!

Seen on Me:

Linen top, Thrifted $4 | Wide leg + High waisted trousers, Limited (RIP) $89 (so worth it) | Ralph Lauren belt, Thrifted $2 | Earrings, OLD (Dillards probably) | Heels, Dillards $15-20 | Kate Spade, Birthday Gift

Is it me…it’s probably me, but I feel so elegant and Net-A-Porter-ish with this dress and simplicity of it.  It’s classic, comfortable and cross seasonal.  The only difference, i’m not rolling in dough to shop at Net-A-Porter.  Plus, I get tons of compliments every time I wear this.
