If you know or follow me, you know I love makeup! I was super excited when Shayla Mitchell, aka MAKEUPSHAYLA on Instagram had another collar with another affordable brand, COLOURPOP!

I love the visuals and merchandising, but from following her over the years, it’s extremely important to support women of color in the beauty industry and of influence and more importantly, those around, everyday.

The collaboration has a pallet, 3 lipsticks, lip gloss and 2 highlighters. I purchased the bundle (everything) for $59! Such a great deal!

The quality is extremely good for an affordable brand. The eyeshadows are as pigmented in person as they are on YouTube, easy to blend and the lips are extremely creamy!

Check out this look I did with roses and golds in the pallet, perfect for Mother’s Day. You can check out other looks on her YouTube channel. I’ll definitely be wearing this all summer!

Glow: My Favorite Highlighters

Full fledge into summmmaaaa…. for the 100 degree days tell me so.  I’m a huge fan of the glow.  I don’t just highlight…I paint a disco ball on my face.  I actually feel my makeup is undone without a highlight.  What’s also good?  You don’t have to limit a highlighter to a highlighter!  Here are my favorites and some of them aren’t technically “highlights” that you don’t have to break the bank for!

Nudes for Brown Girls

I’m tired of ashy lips.

There. I said it.

Just as there are many different shades of people, there are many different shades of colors that match those people.  Not until recent years have “major” makeup brands, The Biggies, began to capitalize of the spending power and love of makeup that us brown girls have.  As a child, my mom and influencers wore IMAN and Fashion Fair, Black Owned Brands that catered to black and brown women.
