A professional everyday look for your 9-5 job. Check out my morning beauty routine with affordable products and little hair maintenance for a stretched blowout style.
Lace is a huge trend this season and it adds a delicate feminine touch. Teacher of the Year, Kiwonda never wears white, unbeknownst to me, but looks fabulous. Just in time for spring and appropriate for several occasions and event, from weddings to work! The bell sleeves add a fun vibe to look and minimal accessories to complete the look.
Don’t be afraid to add a touch of color with heels…nude or black cold work, but these red Valentino inspired heels from her closet pair well.
I always have a hard time styling my hair for special events. It’s super easy to just go to the salon and get it styled or even blown out for super easy manageability, but what if you’re on a budget or just don’t have time to go to the salon? The easiest and my GO TO style is a TWIST-OUT. I’ll twist my hair a few days ahead of time if I know my hair needs to be on and popping’ or quite honestly if I know i’m not going to wake-up and do my hair. Which is daily. 😜
I’ll either flat twist my hair or loose twists. Depending on what time i’m starting dictates the evenness of my strands (look, i’ve a lot of hair, they’re never even). I did loose twist about a week in advance and pinned them into a bun throughout the week and unraveled them for an event.
First Step: Twists
Now we’re here: Unraveled.

This year, I took a lot of fashion inspiration from Tracee Ellis Ross. Actually, she is one of my Style idols. Actually, she’s my big sister in my head. We have very similar styles; bold choices, color and mixing and matching,
I might go on a tangent about how much i’m going to miss warm weather with Fall and Wintter approaching…even thought it’s still in the 80’s in good ‘ol Savannah, Georgia. But what I do love…is burgundy…marroon…deep plums. Probably because their variations of red and purple, two of my favorite colors. Not to mention, it’s always fall appropriate, but is a very trendy color…nails, hair, coats, shoes, etc.
I’ve been waiting to wear this dress because I love the bow, BUT LET ME TELL YOU….the arms are totally wonky. I needed to pull it over my big hair, have my mom pull the dress down WHILE my dad was pulling my arm up. Yea, a mess. But it was worth it lol. I paired this rich color dress with some rich boots…my Manolo Blahniks…that were unworn. And free. Remember?

It’s no secret that I love mixing patterns and prints….today, let’s add some texture. Dressing for work, meetings, appointments or anything business casual/professional does not have to be mundane and repetitive. Try mixing your suit separates and trousers with a bold top– in this case, I opted for a sequins J. Crew top and my blue blazer from a matching suit paired with some straight leg trousers.
This top is commanding and it’s paired with a print. The outfit itself speaks, so as usual, keep the accessories to a minimum…but add a pop of color. To offset the seasonal change, I paired with green earrings and a forest green bag that I can throw my Mac and planner…and a bunch of other crap into.
Try mixing your separates and tag me on social :).
Seen on Me:
Sequins J. Crew Top, Goodwill $5 (regular $128) | Pants, Thrifted (probably less than $5) | Blazer, The Limited (before closing) | Bag, Target, old
Labor Day in south Georgia is filled with love bugs (highly annoying), muggy heat (still) and plenty of cookouts! This year, I headed over to my mentor’s house for her annual Labor Day cookout…food was so good and the weather held up beautifully. I’ve have this dress I thrifted about a year ago and only wore it once, but that occasion did it no justice (just a road trip). When looking for something to wear, I knew I wanted something light and breathable, comfortable and a dash and spice.
Simple accessories. Hair pulled back. I wanted the dress to speak. If you’re a leggy girl like myself, you know it’s a strength (lol). I’m able to control this dress to be dowdy or sexy…this dress was a win. I’ve got the numbers I took that i’ll never call to prove it (elle. oh. elle.)
Seen on Me:
Dress, Moda International, Goodwill $5 | Earring, Goodwill $3 | Clutch, Old |Sunnies, Marc Jacobs
Have a great and safe Labor Day!
